Uh, Muzzy, that pig is still sitting up....

MUZZY'S POSING PIG, sitting at attention at the Gilroy Garlic Festival, a pictorial (July 2000).

Background:

I'm trying to remember what Muzzy told me, and I can't find his email, but I believe that he was asked to barbecue a whole hog for the Gilroy Garlic Festival, which is an annual event in Northern California....Gilroy, the "Garlic Capital of the World".  I think that Muzz has barbecued a few hogs in his time, but this one has the added challenge of "posing" upright, or as Muzzy stated "I feel like I aughta be behind the pig with a bag and a shovel" (think about it ;)

Folks, I'd like to introduce you to Muzzy (aka: Ric Gilbert - Email:gilbertr@pacbell.net)

(If I ever meet him in person, I'll introduce him to me too...LOL.)

You can tell Muzzy is from Northern California, by the telltale TIE-DYED apron...always the fashion-guru, Muzzy is ready to barbecue in style.

Let's get this pig started!

A specially made steel frame was built to support the hog as it cooked.  I believe Muzzy had a local "artist" create it....and I think it's hidden under the skin.  The little white circles you see are "biscuits" that Muzzy used to monitor temperatures...don't know how exactly, but that's what he said.  (btw Muzzy, nice rig you got there)

Friends posing with the "celebrity pig".

Next, completion of the cooking, and PRESENTATION (and, a bunch of drunk guys enjoying themselves)
